At the November 2010 EICMA (Esposizone Internazionale Ciclo Motociclo Accessori) in Milan, Italy, Honda announced two new concept models, with the intention of exploring new potential areas of the motorcycle market. These two models, based on the VFR (800) and the VFR1200F along Honda's new "CROSSOVER CONCEPT" were named "Crossrunner" (VFR800X) and "Crosstourer" (VFR1200X) thus receiving enthusiastic and positive response from the international media and Honda customers.

The aim of this "Crossover concept", launched by Honda in Milan, is to create new value by fusing a diverse portfolio of appealing features into one machine. Departing from conventional thinking and categories, the concept pursues the satisfaction of riders and passengers by exploring possibilities for creating new value and finding new ways to meet the fundamental needs of customers to ride "anytime, anywhere, relaxed, fun, and safe." This new concept fits the lifestyle of those who are full of intellectual curiosity and wish to look for new types of joy in their lives.

The Crossover Concept is one of Honda's directions in its challenge to open up new areas of the market, as it responds to diversifying market needs by creating and refining new products.
