Taking personal mobility to the skies: This dream, cherished since Honda's founding, is about to become a reality with the HondaJet, which will revolutionize the world of light business jets. Working toward the vision of "creating an aircraft that never existed before, one worthy of Honda," the development team started with a total rethinking of conventional aircraft design, tackling R&D challenges through one-of-a-kind technology. Honda is making steady progress toward delivery of customer aircraft.
Conventional business jets mount their engines on the rear part of the fuselage, while the HondaJet has gone with an over-the-wing engine mount configuration. The outcome of thorough experimentation and extensive testing, this unique design achieves major improvements in aerodynamic performance, including faster flight speed and greater fuel efficiency than conventional aircraft in its class. The design also allows for maximum use of interior space, making possible a spacious cabin with comfortable seating and large cargo space.

In October 2012, the final assembly of first HondaJet customer aircraft started in earnest at the production plant adjoining the Honda Aircraft Company headquarters. The production line adopts a range of cutting-edge technologies to achieve high levels of quality and productivity, including IT systems that make use of portable tablet devices for assembly process control.
