Brand popularity grows with the introduction
of
a best-in-class Honda original diesel engine. |

| More than a half century of Honda cycles in Europe |
| Honda motorcycles including the CBR1000RR and CBF600 are selling
briskly in Europe. This success reflects Honda's longtime popularity there,
starting with the first exported cycles in 1950. In 1961, Honda became the first
Japanese motorcycle manufacturer in Europe to establish a local company, and
in the same year, Honda won victories in the Isle of Man Tourist Trophy races,
sweeping 1st through 5th places in the 125cc and 250cc classes. Afterwards,
we extended the Honda motorcycle sales network in several European countries.
In 1963, Honda opened a motorcycle manufacturing plant in Belgium, the first
such foreign-based facility for the company, followed in 1976 by a motorcycle
plant in Italy, and in 1986 by a cycle engine plant in France. In 2003, Honda
started sales of motorcycles that feature our electronically controlled fuel
injection system (PGM-FI), and now, we are working towards further use of this
system on additional models. Honda also expanded our cycle lineup — beginning
sales of the CBF1000 and Deville in 2006. |

| Automotive growth with the launch of the innovative
Civic Diesel |
| Aiming for further business expansion in Europe, Honda is
promoting product development that meets regional needs
by establishing a broad-based local network of company
facilities and R&D offices. In July 2001, Honda opened a
second plant for increased car manufacturing capacity in the
U.K. At the same time, the U.K.-built Civic Type R started
export to Japan, and in 2002, the CR-V started export to the
U.S. market — typical examples of Honda's global manufacturing policy. In
the automotive market, Honda stepped up efforts to expand the diesel passenger car lineup
in 2004, releasing versions of the Accord, CR-V, and FR-V with Honda's original
diesel engine for a sharper competitive edge in sales. From 2006, Honda began
offering a diesel model of the fully redesigned Civic. |
