Honda entered the power products business in order to fulfill the wishes of Soichiro Honda, the founder of the Honda company, to utilize superior engine technology to help people perform jobs at work and home, and improve the quality of life. It started with our first power product engine in 1953, and now includes tillers, portable generators, outboard engines, water pumps, lawn mowers, snow throwers, power carrier, electric 4 wheel scooter and a household compact cogeneration unit. All of these diverse products incorporate unique technology and original ideas. Cumulative production of power products has exceeded 70 million units (as of May, 2006). Power products are produced at 11 plants in 9 countries around the world, sold in 156 countries, and utilized by more than 5.5 million people annually.
