On water, on land, in the mountains and throughout the great outdoors, in a wide range of activities, Honda seeks to make people happy by providing the power to help them do more with their lives — through technology that balances human benefits and ecological friendliness.
Power for everyday living designed to make people smile
Our company founder Soichiro Honda wanted to create machinery that would reduce the manual labor of farmers and fishermen and help them enjoy happier lives. He believed that machinery was intended for human happiness. One of his dreams came true in 1953 with the launch of a gasoline engine for agricultural equipment. Since then, the Honda company has focused on creating user-friendly, yet eco-friendly, fuel-efficient technology, introducing a wide range of power products around the world, including farm machinery, generators, outboard engines, pumps, lawnmowers, and snowblowers. In 2009, Honda started sales of the Pianta mini-tiller, followed in 2010 by the Enepo electric generator, both powered by handy home-use butane gas canisters. We strive to add new value and functionality to products, bringing user-friendly technology to market and extending market frontiers. Honda will continue providing “power for everyday living” to bring smiles to people’s lives.
Two forms of environmental contributions: producing and saving energy
Environmental protection requires greater effort to reduce emissions on a global scale. The Honda Group has been committed to taking the initiative in developing cleaner general purpose engines. For example, Honda developed the large-type GX engine series, which meets the U.S. EPA Phase 3 standard, and started worldwide delivery from March 2010. Honda will continue improving the environmental performance of power products while proposing advanced new values through our compact cogeneration unit and solar battery module — key products in the fields of energy production and savings.
Large-type GX engine series
This engine meets the world’s most stringent emission standard (U.S. EPA Phase 3) while achieving top-of-class performance in output, noise, vibration, start-up ease, and durability. This reliable general-purpose power source is designed for use in various machines, and is suitable for a wide range of needs.
Designed for enjoyable and environmentally friendly high performance, the BF 4-stroke outboard engine lineup includes a wide range of models. The BF115 outboard engine adopts original Honda technology that improves acceleration and enables lean burn control, achieving maximum acceleration and fuel efficiency.
EG series CX-type generators
This cylindrical electric generator is used for various purposes and situations throughout the world. Offering new features like automatic electronic voltage control for voltage stability, Honda’s new EG series is similar to an inverter-type generator and is reasonably priced.
Honda’s proprietary solar cell is a thin membrane made from a compound of copper, indium, gallium, and selenium (CIGS), rather than silicon. Compared with a silicon-type cell, this solar cell is eco-friendly even during manufacturing due to greatly reduced energy consumption in the production process. In March 2010, Hanshin Koshien Stadium in Japan adopted this solar cell technology.
