Bangkok, Thailand, January 23, 2014 - Honda Automobile (Thailand) Co., Ltd., the market leader in passenger automobiles in Thailand, announced the official launch of the all-new Honda City that was developed under the “Advanced Cool Stunner” concept.
The stunning design of the entire car from the front headlights to the rear taillights have a premium expression with a spacious cabin. It is powered by the 1.5L i-VTEC engine, compatible with E85 fuel, which works with a new continuously variable transmission (CVT) developed under Honda’s Earth Dreams Technology that provides instant response and the best fuel efficiency. With its smart technology and superior safety, the all-new Honda City marks another level of success, demonstrating its identity that is ideally “Be Your B-E-S-T”. The new Honda City comes in six variants and seven colors at a starting price of 550,000 Baht. Sales are expected to reach 60,000 units within one year.
According to Pitak Pruittisarikorn, Executive Vice President, Honda Automobile (Thailand) Co., Ltd., “In 1996, the Honda City was first introduced into the Thai market and since then, it has become widely popular with accumulated sales to date of more than 480,000 units. The Honda City was a crucial part of Honda’s success in 2013 as it achieved the highest annual sales record since its debut in Thailand. The all-new Honda City is the fourth generation, and has been further developed from the previous three generations to come equipped with a full range of ideal features that exceed the diverse expectations of customers in the sub-compact car segment. I believe that the all-new Honda City will set a new standard beyond the sub-compact class.”
The development of the all-new Honda City was based on the “Exciting H Design” concept. “H” represents the Human Center that puts the focus on the driver and passengers. The “Man Maximum, Machine Minimum” concept was the essence of the development.
The all-new Honda City looks unique with sleek lines on both sides of the body. The platinum front grill and front and rear lights are in tandem to offer a perfect match. The sporty presence is enhanced by the shark fin antenna. The interior design is more prominent with the roomiest rear cabin area in its class and a larger rear storage area that meets the needs of all lifestyles.
The all-new Honda City comes with a 1.5L SOHC i-VTEC engine that produces 117 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and torque of 146 Newton-meters at 4,700 rpm. The engine is compatible with E85 fuel. The new continuously variable transmission (CVT), based on Honda’s Earth Dreams Technology, is augmented with enhanced gear ratios and a G-Design Shift. Together, they offer more efficient fuel consumption and provide the best acceleration.
The all-new Honda City comes equipped with a full range of standard safety solutions. These include an Anti-lock Brake System (ABS), Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), Hill Start Assist (HSA) and Emergency Stop Signal (ESS) in all variants. The advanced safety technology in the premium-class vehicle includes airbags in six locations, including Dual SRS, i-Side Airbags, and Side Curtain Airbags, plus a Multi-angle Rearview Camera with three-level adjustment and many other features to ensure customer confidence in all journeys.
The all-new Honda City’s audio system has a 7-inch Advanced Touch Screen that supports a smartphone interface, plus an Automatic Air-conditioning System with a luxurious and user-friendly touch control panel. The triple gauges, illuminated by blue light, provide a Multi-information Display. Other features include a One-Push Ignition System, Honda Smart Key System, and a Multi-function Steering Wheel that offers convenient fingertip control of a 7-speed Paddle Shift, Cruise Control, Audio Control Switch, and Handsfree Telephone Switch.
The all-new Honda City is available in six variants including the S MT, priced at 550,000 Baht; the S AT, priced at 589,000 Baht; the V, priced at 649,000 Baht; the V+, priced at 689,000 Baht; the SV, priced at 734,000 Baht; and the SV+ (which includes premium safety solutions such as i-Side Airbags and Side Curtain Airbags), priced at 749,000 Baht. They come in seven colors including Modern Steel Grey (Metallic), Carnelian Red (Pearl), Crystal Black (Pearl), Alabaster Silver (Metallic), Taffeta White and two new colors including Brilliant Sporty Blue (Metallic) and Golden Brown (Metallic). Metallic colors cost an additional 2,000 Baht and Pearl colors cost an additional 8,000 Baht. The interior comes in two colors – beige for the S, V and V+ variants and black for the SV and SV+ variants.
