Production, Sales and Export Results in May, 2011

June 28, 2011 – Honda Motor Co., Ltd. announced a summary of automobile production, Japan domestic sales, and export results for the month of May 2011.

Production in Japan for the month of May 2011 experienced a year-on-year decrease for the sixth consecutive month (since December 2010).

Production in regions outside of Japan experienced a year-on-year decrease for the third consecutive month (since March 2011).

Worldwide production experienced a year-on-year decrease for the fourth consecutive month (since February 2011).

Total Japan domestic market auto sales for the month of May 2011 experienced a year-on-year decrease for the ninth consecutive month (since September 2010).

New vehicle registrations experienced a year-on-year decrease for the ninth consecutive month (since September 2010).

Sales of mini-vehicles experienced a year-on-year decrease for the third consecutive month (since March 2011).

Fit was the industry’s best-selling car among new vehicle registrations for the month of May 2011 with sales of 9,354 units. Freed was the industry’s fifth best-selling car with sales of 4,605 units. Step WGN was the industry’s ninth best-selling car with sales of 3,107 units.

<Mini-vehicles - under 660cc>
Life was the industry’s sixth best-selling car in the mini-vehicle category for the month of May 2011, with sales of 4,887 units.
