Production, Sales and Export Results in May 2009

TOKYO, Japan, June 25, 2009– Honda Motor Co., Ltd. announced a summary of automobile production, Japan domestic sales, and export results for the month of May 2009.

<Production>
Production in Japan for the month of May 2009 experienced a year-on-year decrease for the seventh consecutive month (since November 2008).

Production in regions outside of Japan experienced a year-on-year decrease for the eighth consecutive month (since October 2008).

Worldwide production experienced a year-on-year decrease for the seventh consecutive month (since November 2008).

<Japan Domestic Market Sales>
Total domestic sales for the month of May 2009 experienced a year-on-year decrease for the first time in two months (since March 2009).

Due to strong sales of Insight and Fit, new vehicle registrations experienced a year-on-year increase for the second consecutive month (since April 2009).

Sales of mini-vehicles experienced a year-on-year decrease for the sixth consecutive month (since December 2008).

<Vehicle registrations - excluding mini-vehicles>
Fit was the industry’s second best-selling car among new vehicle registrations for the month of May 2009, with sales of 8,859 units. Insight was the industry’s third best-selling car with sales of 8,183 units.

<Mini-vehicles - under 660cc>
Life was the industry’s sixth best-selling car among mini-vehicles for the month of May 2009, with sales of 4,633 units. Zest was the industry’s tenth best-selling car among mini-vehicles for the month of May 2009, with sales of 2,176 units.

<Exports from Japan>
Total exports from Japan in May 2009 experienced a year-on-year decrease for the eighth consecutive month (since October 2008).
