Motor Trend Names Acura MDX 2001 Sport/Utility of the Year
|
Torrance, Calif., October 23,
2000 --- Motor Trend magazine today presented its prestigious 2001 Sport/Utility
of the Year award to the all-new Acura MDX. This year's competition included
12 sport/utility vehicles from the U.S., Europe and Asia that were either
new or substantially changed for the 2001 model year.
The award is presented annually by the editors of Motor Trend to the most
significant new SUV in the industry, taking into consideration such factors as
technological advancements, value, safety, performance, livability, quality of
assembly, and overall impact on the automotive market.
"Our judgment is that no other new or substantially revised sport/utility vehicle offers
the Acura's mix of seven-passenger convenience, large-load capacity, crisp on-
road dynamics, impressive off- and all-road capabilities, excellent build quality, a
strong and efficient powertrain, high feature content, and exceptional value," wrote
the editors of Motor Trend in concluding their assessment of this year's
competitors.
Available this year as a 2001 model, the MDX is Acura's first designed-from-the-
ground-up sport-utility vehicle.
"We are honored to receive this distinguished award," said Acura executive vice
president Dick Colliver. "MDX is the first luxury SUV to deliver sport and utility
without compromise and this award validates this achievement.
"The MDX, like all Acura vehicles, comes equipped with a comprehensive 4-
year/50,000-mile limited warranty that includes Acura's TLC (Total Luxury Care)
customer service package.
Acura offers a full line of luxury performance vehicles through a nationwide network
of nearly 260 dealers. The Acura line up features six distinct models including the
exotic NSX supercar, the 3.5 RL flagship luxury sedan, the best-selling 3.2 TL luxury
performance sedan, the all-new 3.2 CL luxury performance coupe, the fun-to-drive
Integra and the revolutionary MDX luxury sport-utility vehicle. For more information
