| Honda Launches Step WGN Field Deck with Pop-Up Roof |

Tokyo, January 22, 1998 --- Honda Motor Co., Ltd. has announced the launch of a new version of the popular Step WGN (Step Wagon), which, although a vehicle qualifying for ordinary family-size sedan registration, is large enough to make family touring a convenient pleasure. The new "Step WGN Field Deck" comes with a pop-up observation/tent, designed for outdoor leisure pursuits and made out of fiber-reinforced plastic (FRP). The new model will be available from January 22 at Honda auto dealers throughout Japan. The Step WGN Field Deck has been developed by a Honda affiliate, Honda Tokuso Co., Ltd. utilizing the double sunroof Step WGN model.
Main features:
- Pop-up tent roof provides sleeping space for up to two adults
- Roof panels match the body color, fold back flush to form a high roof when
the tent roof is not being used, and are made out of a light, rust proof, highly
durable fiber-reinforced plastic (FRP)
- Height with stored tent portion (when vehicle is moving or tent is not in
use): 1,955 mm (4WD: 1,970 mm) - so can be parked inside large multi-storied parking
lot bays
- Double entrances fore and aft into the pop-up roof section allow entry even
if another person is asleep in the tent
- Tent panels made from neoprene, so highly waterproof
- Lets in plenty of light and a cool breeze; insect nets fitted across all three
windows of tent portion (front and two sides)
