On Thursday, March 1, 2018, Luigi Taveri (Switzerland), who contributed immeasurably to motor sports, passed away at the age of 88.
Riding for Honda since 1961, Luigi won the Motorcycle Road Racing World Championship in 1962, 1964 and 1966 in the 125cc class, leaving a legacy of accomplishments and laying the foundations of Honda’s success in motorcycle world championship racing.
Honda is deeply saddened by the loss of Luigi Taveri, a great contributor to Honda’s first era of motorcycle world championship racing success, and would like to express its sincere appreciation for Luigi and deepest condolences to his family, friends and fans.
