This evolution of the popular CB400 Super Four is powered by a new Hyper VTEC
SPEC II engine that switches between 2-valve and 4-valve operation at 6,300rpm
instead of the 6,750rpm of its earlier version, boosting midrange torque and changing
overall power characteristics for a palpably sportier ride. It also features that
same brake pads used on the VTR1000 SP-1, and is the first 400cc-class bike to
incorporate the highly effective H.I.S.S* anti-theft system, rounding out its
forward-looking features in a way befitting its reputation as 'King of the Nakeds.'

Featuring a narrow frame and integrated bodywork with aggressively flowing styling, the CRF450R is powered by a new 4-stroke OHC single-cylinder motocross engine offering cleaner, quieter riding while serving up a powerful blend performance that is easily capable of matching similarly classed 2-stroke models. Engine-design refinements such as a unique Unicam head configuration that achieves precise valve actuation and a super-flat ‘miniskirt’ piston contribute to a lighter, more compact engine configuration. Chassis features include a refined version of the lightweight aluminum twin-spar frames used on Honda’s popular CR racers, front and rear suspension systems with adjustable rebound and compression damping, and lightweight, HRC Works-type aluminum spoke nipples.
