| TYPE R, symbol of Honda's racing heritage. It traces its origin back to our
first victory on the Formula One circuit in 1965, when a Honda F1 machine took
the checkered flag at the Mexico Grand Prix.The car's pure white body emblazoned
with a crimson red emblem became the symbol of Honda's racing spirit. We have
reserved that same emblem for the front hoods of our TYPE R production cars. It
is the mark of excellence, signifying technology developed in the fierce crucible
of motor sports and Honda's unswerving dedication to racing. |

| The Civic TYPE R has arrived. Manufactured in England, the traditional home of motor racing, this car's driving performance has been polished and perfected on the racetracks of Europe. Its bullet-like aerodynamic form hugs the road on 205/45R17 large-diameter tires. The 2.0-liter DOHC i-VTEC engine comes equipped with VTEC (Variable Valve Timing and lift, Electronic Control) and VTC (Variable Timing Control) on both intake and exhaust valves, for an optimum blend of performance and fuel economy. A close-ratio, 6-speed manual transmission imparts slick gear changes, while the specially-tuned TYPE R suspension keeps the driver in intimate contact with the road. |
