The Bird House Project was started by Honda R&D's Design Division (Automobile R&D Center) in 2012, proposing the next generation of woodland development near populated areas, by recycling timber offcuts within the "Hello Woods" nature experience center at Twin Ring Motegi.
This collaboration between Honda Design and Hello Woods has given birth to numerous birdhouses connecting wild birds with people.
About the Honda Birdhouse Project
The Honda Birdhouse Project was born from the personal ties between Ryuichiro Sakino, the Hello Woods Forest Producer, and Yoshikazu Kigoshi, the General Manager of Design Division, Automobile R&D Center, Honda R&D Co., Ltd.
Sakino asked for any ideas on how to reuse timber scraps, to which Kigoshi came up with the Honda Birdhouse Project, a concept which would also inspire the R&D Center designers' creativity, and invigorate the staff.
