First in the world

The Friction Stir Welding method

The aluminum is softened by applying frictional heat and mechanical pressure, and the pieces are attached to one another by creating a new metal that is a combination of the steel and aluminum (an intermetallic compound).
Honda was the first in the world to attach these two metals so solidly that they could be used as parts in auto body frames.
