American Honda Motor Co., Inc. is demonstrating its prototype walking assist devices for the first time in the U.S. The devices will be part of a technical exhibition at the 2009 Society of Automotive Engineers World Congress at Detroit's Cobo Center April 20 - 23.

Honda unveiled its second experimental walking assist device that helps support bodyweight to reduce the load on the user's legs while walking, going up and down stairs, and in a semi-crouching position.

Honda will begin collaborative testing of its experimental walking assist device as from July 1, 2008, with Shinseikai Medical Group, Kasumigaseki-Minami Hospital (Kawagoe, Saitama prefecture).

Honda will showcase an experimental model of a walking assist device which has been developed to support walking for the elderly and other people with weakened leg muscles, at the International Trade Fair on Barrier Free Equipments & Rehabilitation for the Elderly & the Disabled (BARRIER FREE 2008).
