World Motocross Championship 250cc, Round 8, Sweden
Second Place and Sixth Consecutive Podium for Coppins, but Beirer Misses Out in
Fourth |
Joshua Coppins had a slow opening lap in 6th and 7th place, but fought back strongly and
moved up to 2nd by the middle of the race. Although he continued to press leader Mickael
Pichon (Suzuki), he was 4 seconds behind and still in 2nd position at the finish. Meanwhile
Pit Beirer was well-placed in 3rd early on, and despite losing ground after two falls he
managed to work his way back up through the field and crossed the finish line in 4th place.
Andrea Bartolini gained one place after the opening lap to finish 6th in the 500cc class.
Returning after breaking a bone in the opening 250cc race of the season, Yoshitaka Astuta
was still not 100% fit and found himself struggling in slippery conditions. Unable to improve
his times, he failed to qualify for the final race.
