World Motocross Championship 250cc, Round 5, Italy
Podium for Coppins and Beirer in Second and Third |
Pit Beirer held the lead for the first 10 minutes after taking the hole-shot again, but
then had to protect his 2nd place after being overtaken by championship leader
Mickael Pichon (Suzuki). Meanwhile Joshua Coppins, all the way back in 13th place on
lap one, was moving his way up through the field. By the closing stages he had climbed
to 3rd, just behind Beirer, who he then passed on the last lap to take the checkered flag
in 2nd place. Beirer joined him on the podium in 3rd place. This result means both
riders hold onto their 2nd and 3rd positions in the standings
