As the demand for delivery of cold-storage
items increases, the transport business is shifting towards a business model of
getting closer to its delivery area. Honda's answer to this trend is the ACTY
COOL SHUTTLE. ACTY's unique mid-ship rear-drive layout allows mounting of the
refrigeration unit next to the driver's seat-a world's first. Now, a single vehicle
can deliver regular cargo as well as cold storage items, raising delivery efficiency.
ACTY COOL SHUTTLE will change the face of the delivery business.

Locating the engine towards the center of the vehicle body
in an MR configuration opens up usable flat space for storage. Unlike conventional
refrigerated vehicles, ACTY offers a clear view through the rear window thanks
to the refrigeration unit's location next to the driver's seat. A patent application
has been filed this layout. |

The refrigeration unit is equipped with top-mounted lids to prevent the escape
of cold air when the unit is opened. In addition, a two-way, left-right/full-open
arrangement allows easy access to both large and small items and facilitates speedier
loading and unloading.

The refrigeration unit is equipped with inert gas insulation.
Compared with the foamed urethane insulation used in conventional vehicle-mounted
refrigeration units, the inert gas-insulation method is more efficient, enabling
a much thinner insulation layer and achieving a capacity of about 300 liters in
a very compact form. What's more, it's easy to switch the refrigeration unit from
a deep freeze to a chiller. |
|
The
rear of the cargo bay is equipped with a long carrier that allows transport of
lengthy items along with regular sized packages. |
