The Road to 100 Million Bikes

In Autumn 1946, in Hamamatsu City, Japan,
Soichiro Honda established the Honda Technical
Research Institute. Three years later the company
introduced its first real bike-the"Dream D-Type."
It was the beginning of Soichiro Honda's
"dream of riding" and the first step in what would
become the "riding of 100 million bikes."

Cumulative worldwide manufacturing totals for two- and three-wheelers as of October 1997,
excluding motor-assisted bicycles and four-wheeled buggies (HONDA-researched JAMA data).
