Since it first participated in the 1954 Isle of Man TT motorcycle races, Honda has involved itself in a wide range of motor sports. There is something about motor racing that grabs the imagination of almost everyone, and taking up the challenge of motor sports forces us to test our abilities under demanding conditions, and constantly improve our technologies and expertise, a process that in time bears fruit in the form of major breakthroughs. The challenge is a very tough one, but also very rewarding, bringing endless satisfaction. We think of motor sports as an endeavor for nurturing both our human resources and our technology, in the process contributing much to society.
Honda R&D develops its racing vehicles in cooperation with partners throughout the world involved in motor sports, and the revolutionary technology that emerges from such activities is tested and proven in actual races, providing feedback that has been invaluable in the development of Honda's mass-produced vehicles. |
