MotoGP 2013 Track Report HRC Team Principal Livio Suppo

Round 6Dani secures championship lead in his home turf

The Repsol Honda Team took the fourth double podium of the season at Catalunya GP, with a second position for Dani and a third for Marc. Are you happy with the results despite missing out on the victory?

A double podium is a good result for the Repsol Honda Team, but honestly we were looking for the win, and we can’t be 100% happy with this result.

Dani said after the race that he had several warnings from the front when he tried to increase the pace in the middle of the race. Is that something the team will focus to improve in the test at Aragon?

In Barcelona many riders had issues with the front tires, as it was super warm. In practice everything was Okay, but unfortunately during the race Dani missed the perfect feeling. We will try to work on it in Aragon.

Why did the Repsol Honda Team choose Aragon to test after the race instead of staying in Catalunya?

Aragon is not so far from Barcelona and it was a good opportunity to test on a circuit where we will race later this season.

Catalunya GP was expected to be one of the most difficult races for Marc, but he managed to be once again on the podium recovering from sixth on the grid to third. How important is it for him to be up there again after crashing in Mugello?

Marc did a very good race, especially considering how the practices went. He showed one more time his capability to learn very quickly and it was enough for him to follow Dani and Jorge to learn, during the race, how to improve!

Dani maintained his lead in the championship after six rounds and the Repsol Honda Team won last year the next 3 races (Assen, Sachsenring and Laguna). Which are your expectations for the upcoming races before the summer break?

Especially Sachsenring and Laguna has been good for the Repsol Honda Team in the past, but we know that Jorge is very strong and in good form, so we will have to work hard to beat him! So far this season we have won 3 races, same as Jorgeā€¦ it will be a hard battle until the end!

Why did HRC decide to test the 2014 RCV prototype in Aragon?

Usually we test the next season prototype in the test after Brno, in August. This season, due to the MotoGP calendar, this test will not take place, and it will be replaced by a test in Misano. This is why we decided to bring the 2014 prototype here to Aragon and test it with Dani and Marc. If we had waited until Misano and something was wrong, it would have been too late to change it in time for the Valencia post-race test. Testing in Aragon will give us more time to prepare the final version of the 2014 machine.
