MotoGP 2013 Track Report HRC Team Principal Livio Suppo

Round 127th Double Podium for Repsol Honda Team

The Repsol Honda Team managed to achieve another double podium in Silverstone. Looking back at the weekend, with Marc’s crash during the warm up resulting in a dislocated shoulder, and the issues that Dani had in qualifying missing the first row, what are your feelings about the race?

It has been a great race! Again a big show for the fans, after Brno. Marc was unbelievable, considering his physical condition, and Dani showed his speed catching up to Jorge and Marc. We must be happy with both our riders and of the performance of our RCV!

Did you come to think at some point that the weekend was over for Marquez? And during the race, did you expect he would be so fast and consistent?

For sure immediately after the crash, when we were in the Medical Center, we were worried about his condition. Nevertheless Marc wanted to race and the doctors did a great job. I was surprised to see him so fast from the very first lap, and it is unbelievable how he was able to fight with Jorge in these condition until the last corner.

Pedrosa didn’t get a good start, but he was pushing to the limit to be back in front until the end of the race. Was the lack of grip in the last laps the reason why he couldn’t be in the fight with Marquez and Lorenzo, or is he still not 100% fit to take more risks? Or maybe a combination of both factors?

Dani was as fast as Marc and Jorge in the last two races, even if he is coming out from an injury. It is just a question of time and I am sure he will fight for the win again. At the end of last season he was consistently super fast and I am sure he will be again at that level, starting from Misano.

After three races in a row, Marc continues to lead the championship, 30 points ahead of Dani, in second position, and Lorenzo, in third. There will be a one day test after Misano to prepare for the last 5 rounds of the championship. What do you think Honda can still improve?

Our machine is very strong now, and we have to try step-by-step to strengthen it even more! Three races in a row are difficult, and it is good now to have a weekend of rest to “recharge the batteries” and be ready for the Misano race and test. It will be important to prepare for the last 5 rounds of this exciting Championship!

Honda Gresini announced two-year contract with Scott Redding in MotoGP. How does HRC value this agreement?

We are happy to have Scott on at Honda next year. He is doing an excellent job this season in Moto2, and his riding style and body seem to be good for MotoGP. We look forward to see him on our new “production racer.”
