MotoGP 2013 Track Report HRC Team Principal Livio Suppo

Round 11Marquez Breaks Another Record in Brno

The Grand Prix of the Czech Republic was expected to be a big challenge for the Repsol Honda Team. It’s usually considered a Yamaha track and both Lorenzo and Rossi tested there some weeks before the race. But Marc Marquez won and Dani Pedrosa was second. How can you explain this great display?

Honestly it is difficult to say if Brno is a Yamaha circuit, as Honda won here in the last 2 seasons and now three in a row! It is true that Jorge and Vale came here to test before the race, but it was still not enough to beat Marc and Dani on the RC213V! The engineers at home and everybody on track is doing a great job, building an unbelievable season!

Marc continues his record-breaking run: fourth win in a row - fifth of the year – something no premier class rookie has achieved in the 65-year history of Grand Prix racing, and also 10 podiums already in a single season, matching Valentino Rossi in 2000. What do you think is the key to his great performance?

Of course he has huge talent, but I think his character is his real secret, because it helps him to manage the pressure. From the beginning of the season he had the right approach and continues to do so. Everything that comes this season is okay, because as a rookie he has nothing to lose.

Pedrosa was able to keep the high pace in the race and finished second, only 3 tenths behind Marc. Where is Dani on his recovering process from his injury now?

Dani is still not 100% but he is getting better. At the moment everyone is speaking mainly about Marc of course, but I believe Dani deserves to be “on stage” because he has done a very good job since his injury sustained in Sachsenring. He showed a “never give up” attitude which we are very proud of. Last year he was almost unbeatable in the last part of the season, so…

This week's race at Silverstone will be the third race in a row. What are your expectations for the GP?

Last year Dani and Casey finished behind Jorge, who did a great race… Let’s hope the weather stays constant and we can see a nice battle as in Brno!
