It has been a positive pre season for the Repsol Honda Team. Dani started the winter where he finished last season: in the first position! He has been fast in each circuit where we tested, and he is happy with the new machine, happier that he was last year in this point. Marc proved to be very quick in understanding how to ride a MotoGP machine and – even if he still has many things to learn – he is already very fast.
In Sepang 1, Dani tested some new parts, while Marc was focused on learning the secret of MotoGP. From Sepang 2 on, they both began to use the parts that Dani approved in the first test and they have been working together with their team to find the best set up for their riding styles.
We planned this test as the rules allow us to do it. Moreover we invited all other teams to join us. Finally only LCR Team and Yamaha Factory were there. If you act within the rule, how it can be wrong or unfair? If people think MotoGP needs more restrictive rules for testing, we can speak about it, but what we did was totally within the rules.
Very difficult to say, as a test is one thing and the race is another!
We believe that with few days of rest he will be ok as it was just a muscular contraction.
Last season we had some issue mainly because the rules changed after Valencia test, adding more kilos on the bike, and after that, with the introduction of a new tyre that didn’t match the characteristics of our chassis. This year, so far, no last minute changes and… better situation!
The bike is an evolution of last season machine. It is almost impossible to say “this is a 2012 or 2013 machine” as the evolution is constant and never stops, also during the season. We are trying to improve here and there, with small changes.
Our target is always the same, every season: fight for the titles. It won’t be easy as the competition is, as always, very strong, but we will do our best to achieve it!
Let’s wait and see. After the first race we can better understand if this new format is good or if we can improve it.
