Day 1 | Day 2

Casey Stoner tested the Honda RC213V on Tuesday, August 6 as part of Honda’s development tests at the Twin Ring Motegi Circuit in Tochigi, Japan.

The Australian won his second career title with Honda in 2011, and decided to retire at the end of 2012. Since then, he has been racing in the V8 Supercars series in Australia. Stoner returned to Honda as a test rider, working on the evolution of the current RC213V. He is scheduled to do four tests in Motegi in 2013.

Under cloudy conditions on the first of two testing days planned, Stoner rode the RC213V for the first time since November 2012 in Valencia, which was the final grand prix of the season. After an anything-but-rusty Stoner ran 6 laps, the test was suspended due to heavy rain. Road surface conditions did not improve, thus ending the first day of testing.

Casey Stoner:
“It was good to get back on the bike, if only for a few laps! We only managed to get one run in before the rain arrived which was a little disappointing. It was really nice to get that first run, it's been 9 months since I've been on a bike and it's going to take me some time to get used to everything again! The bike and the track felt good and I hope that we can get some better testing in tomorrow with some dry track time and run some more laps”
