The 20-year-old Matti Lehikoinen will be replacing 18-year-old junior rider Cyrille Kurtz (FRA).

Matti is the 2001 Junior European Champion, and in 2004 has placed consistently in the top 10 at World Cup races, included his 7th in Livigno, Italy, which plays host to the 2005 World Championships. Furthermore, Matti is no stranger to being a teammate of Greg Minnaar, having been on the same team as Greg in 2001 and 2002.

Matti Lehikoinen: "This is a huge honour for me and I am very happy to be racing on such a top quality program with all the support I need to progress further in my career, and of course to be back with Greg is great. I'm really looking forward to our first testing session in 2005!"

Greg Minnaar: "Matti has extraordinary skills and I have been impressed by him for several years. We both have the same coach these days and I have been watching him mature as a rider in 2004, seeing his results improve a lot. I look forward to contesting the World Cup in 2005 with Matti on the team."

Team Director Martin Whiteley: "With the World Cup being an important objective in 2005, it was clear that Greg needed to have the support of another top 10 World Cup rider. Matti will be a very important part of our goal strategy for next season, and we look forward to bringing him on board early in the New Year. Honda has been very impressed with young Cyrille Kurtz's professionalism and potential this year and has not ruled out working with him again in the future, if he's available, however for 2005 we needed a rider that was already proving that regular top 10 results in the World Cup, even podiums, would be a reality."

Recent testing in Japan with Greg Minnaar has been extremely positive and the Team G-Cross Honda program is already looking forward to an exciting year ahead. Team co-sponsors and other details will be announced later.
