IndyCar Series 2012
Fresh off a second-place finish at last weekend's season-opening Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg, Target Chip Ganassi Racing's Scott Dixon places third Saturday at Barber Motorsports Park to lead the Honda effort in IZOD IndyCar Series qualifying for Sunday's Honda Grand Prix of Alabama.
Mike Conway made the second row of the starting field an all-Honda affair, as he hustled his A.J. Foyt Racing machine around the challenging 2.3-mile Barber circuit to post the fourth-quickest time in the final round of IndyCar "knockout" qualifying. Conway's achievement marked the first "Fast Six" IndyCar qualifying appearance for the Foyt team since 2007.
A late red flag during the second qualifying round, due to a spin by Ryan Hunter-Reay, prevented Graham Rahal and Simon Pagenaud from advancing to the final round, and they will start eighth and tenth, respectively. Sunday's 90-lap Honda Grand Prix of Alabama is scheduled for 2 p.m. EDT, with live television coverage on the NBC Sports Network.
