Rahal will start second, his best qualifying performance of the season, followed by Ryan Briscoe and championship points leader Dario Franchitti. Sebastien Bourdais will start fifth, also a season-best, with Ryan Hunter-Reay rounding out the “Fast Six” final-round qualifiers. Sunday’s 75-lap inaugural Baltimore Grand Prix starts at 2:45 p.m. EDT, with live television coverage on VERSUS.

Will Power (#12 Team Penske Honda) pole qualifier, 7th pole of 2011, 23rd career pole:
“That [polelap] was absolutely everything I had. That was a tough lap to get back on top of Graham [Rahal]. The pole is very important for me, both because this is a street circuit and because it’s one more point [gained] on [championship leader] Dario [Franchitti]. Now, I have to lead as many laps as possible tomorrow, get the win, and keep chipping away at his points lead.”
