Power Prevails in Tight Baltimore Pole Fight

Team Penske’s Will Power saved his best for last, edging ahead of early pacesetter Graham Rahal by less than a tenth of a second on the final lap of IZOD IndyCar Series qualifying Saturday to claim the pole for Sunday’s Grand Prix of Baltimore.

Rahal will start second, his best qualifying performance of the season, followed by Ryan Briscoe and championship points leader Dario Franchitti. Sebastien Bourdais will start fifth, also a season-best, with Ryan Hunter-Reay rounding out the “Fast Six” final-round qualifiers. Sunday’s 75-lap inaugural Baltimore Grand Prix starts at 2:45 p.m. EDT, with live television coverage on VERSUS.
