Sato Charges to Edmonton Pole

Race Results >>

Takuma Sato capped strong qualifying performances from the entire KV Racing Technology team during IZOD IndyCar Series qualifying Saturday at the Edmonton City Centre temporary airport circuit to capture the pole for Sunday’s Edmonton Indy. It is Sato’s second IndyCar pole in the past three events – he also was pole qualifier at Iowa Speedway in June – with his KV Racing Technology teammates E.J. Viso and Tony Kanaan qualifying fifth and 11th, respectively.

Will Power qualified second, and saw his streak of eight consecutive road/street course poles come to an end; while defending race winner Scott Dixon will line up third and championship points leader Dario Franchitti, fourth. Team Penske’s Ryan Briscoe rounded out the top six “knockout” qualifiers today. Sunday’s 90-lap race starts at 2 p.m. EDT, with live television coverage on VERSUS.

Takuma Sato (#5 KV Racing Technology Honda) pole qualifier, his 2nd pole in the last three races and 2nd career IndyCar pole:
“To get the pole here is something really special, and the result of strong teamwork from all three KV drivers. TK [Tony Kanaan], E.J. [Viso] and I have been working closely all year long, and the results of that effort are starting to pay off for us. Our next goal is a podium finish, and to fight for a win, if possible.”
