- Team Penske’s Helio Castroneves was able to stretch his final tank of ethanol from Lap 147 to the finish at Kentucky Speedway to win the Meijer Indy 300.
- Ed Carpenter, who led 35 laps of last year’s Miejer Indy 300 but lost the race to Ryan Briscoe by just 16 thousandths of a second, was the surprise pole qualifier Friday at Kentucky Speedway, despite running only a part-time schedule in the 2010 IZOD IndyCar Series.
