After trailing Target/Chip Ganassi Racing's Scott Dixon through the first two practice sessions, Team Penske's Will Power emerged at the top of the field during a third, added session to lead the way in Saturday's opening day activities for the Sao Paulo Indy 300, the opening round of the 2010 IZOD IndyCar Series, and the inaugural IndyCar event in Brazil.

The third practice was added as a result of slippery conditions encountered on the concrete-paved start/finish straight. The remainder of the 2.5-mile temporary street circuit is paved with asphalt. The circuit will be “diamond ground” overnight, with qualifying now scheduled to take place at 8:30 a.m. local time. Green flag for Sunday's 75-lap race is scheduled for 12 noon, with live television coverage on the Versus network.

Will Power (#12 Penske Racing Honda) quickest in practice:
“I like the circuit. It's very physical, and challenging to be sure. It's a bit tough going down the start/finish straight, but the [diamond grinding] work they're doing tonight should help with that. I noticed that the field got much tighter during the final practice, and that will make for a better race tomorrow for the fans.”
