Although he started deep in the field in 13 th, defending IndyCar Series Champion Tony Kanaan charged through the field – picking up six positions in the first three laps alone – and led a total of 62 laps before finishing third to lead the Honda contingent Saturday night at Texas Motor Speedway.

Rookie Danica Patrick led the Honda effort in qualifying Thursday for the Bombardier Learjet 500 at Texas World Speedway, and will start third in the first Saturday-night race of the 2005 Indy Racing League IndyCar Series.
