November 2002 saw the launch of an experiment designed to implement an integrated public transportation system using IT (operated by the Foundation of the Kansai Research Institute) in Kansai Science City*.
In support of the experiment’s objectives regarding city planning and transportation network development, Honda has developed the vehicles (Honda Civic Hybrids) and the operating management system for a car sharing program featuring environment-friendly vehicles.
* Composed of three prefectures, six cities, and two towns spanning Kyoto, Osaka, and Nara prefectures.
