Power Unit

The engine of the Gold Wing F6B is based on the horizontally opposed six-cylinder 1800 cc engine of the Gold Wing GL1800, known for its low center of gravity and quietness. While retaining the allures of the smooth output characteristics and acceleration of the GL1800 engine, the Gold Wing F6B's powerful feeling and sounds from the low-speed range, along with the positive effects of the vehicle body's weight reduction, will enchant the rider.

In environmental performance, the model has a PGM-FI system for improving purification efficiency through sophisticated air-to-fuel ratio control, an air injection system to promote oxidation reaction for unburned gas, and an HECS3 (Honda Evolutional Catalyzing System 3) three-way catalytic converter system. These three systems are similar to the one on the Gold Wing GL1800 and achieve outstanding emission levels through major reductions [4] of the CO (carbon monoxide), HC (hydrocarbons) and Nox (nitrogen oxide) in exhaust emissions. Through these measures, the Gold Wing F6B achieves an emission level that is less than half the level of the 2008 emissions standard (Tier-2) stipulated by the California Air Resource Board (CARB) and half that of the Euro III emissions regulations in Europe. Thus the F6B boasts one of the world's highest environmental performances [5], without sacrificing its powerful and smooth output.
