Honda Fails to Win Final Race of 2001 |
Jarno Trulli of Benson & Hedges Jordan Honda finished in 8th position in the season-ending Japanese Grand Prix. Meanwhile, Jean Alesi, who had already announced his retirement from Formula One, was unable to complete the 201st race of his career after crashing out on lap 6. Jacques Villeneuve of Lucky Strike BAR Honda crossed the line in 10th place and teammate Olivier Panis was 13th.
Michael Schumacher won the race, his 9th victory of the year equaling the record number of wins for a driver in one season and setting a new points-scoring record.
