Formula One Championship Round 15 Italian Grand Prix (Monza)
6th Place for Villeneuve, First Points Since German Grand Prix! |
Jacques Villeneuve of Lucky Strike BAR Honda finished in 6th place in the Italian Grand Prix.
Starting from 15th position on the grid, and in difficult conditions in which 9 cars retired,
Villeneuve secured his first points since the German Grand Prix. Teammate Olivier Panis
crossed the finish line in 9th position. Benson & Hedges Jordan Honda driver Jean Alesi
took 8th place, his third consecutive complete run since joining the team, while Jarno Trulli,
5th on the starting grid, was forced to retire on lap one.
The race was won by pole position holder Juan Pablo Montoya of the Williams team, his first
ever victory coming in only the 15th race of his career.
