In the German Grand Prix on Sunday, which turned into a survival race with only ten cars finishing,
Jacques Villeneuve of Lucky Strike BAR Honda gained a creditable 3rd place. This was his second podium finish this season including the Spanish Grand Prix in April.
Teammate Olivier Panis just made it into the points in 7th position. Both of the Benson & Hedges Jordan Hondas had to retire.
The race was won by the Williams team's Ralf Schumacher. Ferrari's Michael Shumacher,
winner of a record 51 races, did not finish.
