In a fuel cell, hydrogen and atmospheric oxygen combine in a chemical reaction that produces electricity. This electricity drives the vehicle’s motor. The vehicle emits no CO2 or other harmful emissions. The only byproduct is water—it’s the ultimate in clean performance. There is no need to recharge the fuel cell, as it functions as a tiny electric power station, producing its own electricity. The hydrogen tank is quickly filled, and the vehicle can travel as far on a single tank as a gasoline vehicle travels on a tank of gas. The fuel cell vehicle operates with very little energy loss, for excellent fuel economy. |
