Lisbon, Portugal, 24th April - 4th May 2008. ASIMO arrived in Lisbon this week to attend the 2008 Portugal International Motor Show (2008 Salão Internacional do Automóvel de Portugal). This is the first time the latest version of ASIMO has travelled to Portugal and will spend 11 days in the country's capital.
The New ASIMO wows the crowds in Lisbon
Whilst at the show the New ASIMO will make 28 public performances on a vast, purpose-built stage. Each demonstration, lasting half an hour, will provide the estimated 250,000 visitors to the international motor show with an opportunity to see Honda's latest advances in the field of humanoid robotics. This will include ASIMO's ability to run, climb stairs, give and receive objects and interact with people. It will also include a unique dance, demonstrating the superior agility and movement of the new ASIMO to its predecessors.
The focus of this year's show is 'Driving to the Future' and Honda's stand follows this forward thinking theme by displaying, in addition to ASIMO, a number of Honda's ground-breaking environmental technologies. These will include: the Small Hybrid Sports concept; the new Accord 2008 (which, like ASIMO, is making its debut in Portugal) equipped with the brand new i-DTEC next-generation clean diesel engine and the production Civic Hybrid.
