CYPRUS, EU, May 3, 2007 – ASIMO has travelled to Cyprus this week to help launch a new Honda science scholarship for the University of Cyprus. The Honda scholarship aims to inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers in Cyprus and rewards Masters students who excel in the field of Electrical and Computing Engineering. ASIMO has also been invited to help celebrate the 40th anniversary of Honda in the country.

ASIMO is in Nicosia until 6th May and whilst there will be involved in a number of educational initiatives organised by Demstar Automotive, Honda's official distributor in Cyprus, and the University of Cyprus to inspire local school children and students about science.
The first of these was held today at the University where ASIMO helped Demstar Automotive launch its Masters degree scholarship for Electrical and Computing Engineering. ASIMO will also be on hand to congratulate the winners of the University's robotics competition.

Tomorrow a series of specially scheduled performances of ASIMO will be held at the University campus for high school, college and university students.
In addition to the educational activities, ASIMO will be performing to the general public on the 5th and 6th May. The opportunity to see ASIMO has proved extremely popular, with all of the 11 shows already fully booked.
This is the first time ASIMO has visited Cyprus and the trip began on Monday with an interview with the Cypriot journalist Chrysanthos Tsouroullis on Sigma TV's flagship evening news programme.
