ASIMO was on hand during the Japan-Korea Friendship Year 2005 event held June 28 to July 3, 2005, in Seoul's COEX Convention and Exhibition Center. Held to promote true friendship between the two nations, the event saw ASIMO help in the game titled, "Japan and Korea–closer than meets the eye."
The master of ceremonies and his female reporter-assistant presented to the audience resemblances between the two cultures that might at first appear to be differences. Three participants were then chosen from the crowd to come on stage and answer five questions, with the participant with the most right answers winning a T-shirt, and the other participants receiving Japan-Korea Friendship badges. ASIMO fulfilled an important role as special assistant for the day.
