ASIMO traveled to southern Thailand March 7 to 29, 2005, as an ambassador of goodwill, visiting the many victims of the earthquake that struck off the coast of Sumatra on December 26, 2004, triggering a massive tsunami that claimed thousands of victims in 12 countries around the Indian Ocean.

ASIMO was in Thailand as a leader of the "You've Got Friends" campaign, conducting demonstrations, playing games or drawing before a total of some 25,000 attendants, including over 1,000 children who lost parents in the earthquake.

Many local and national media covered ASIMO's efforts to bring back some happiness into the hearts of the children he entertained and educated.
