Detroit Motor Show
The Detroit Motor Show is one of the major motor shows not only in North America but throughout the world. ASIMO appeared at the Detroit Motor Show press day, and demonstrated trademark abilities - standing on one leg and side-stepping – in front of the world's media.
ASIMO's abilities to walk as a biped demonstrate Honda's advanced technology
ASIMO's appearance at the Detroit Motor Show press day media presentation was the focus of worldwide media attention. ASIMO appeared on the stage before Honda's president, Mr. Fukui, who was about to take a press briefing. ASIMO danced and stood on one leg, demonstrating Honda's high standards of technological ability. ASIMO also performed sidestepping, demonstrating the ability to walk forwards and left / right. All the movements were performed naturally and competently, and the 1,000-plus crowd of media representatives, as well as automobile industry representatives, showed their surprise and delight as they took photograph after photograph of ASIMO's performance.
ASIMO welcomes the president
After completing the performance, ASIMO welcomed Honda's president, Mr. Fukui. Mr. Fukui entered on being introduced by ASIMO and the two shook hands firmly. Mr. Fukui then took a press briefing and ASIMO succeeded in demonstrating the cutting edge technologies applied by Honda.
ASIMO is currently visiting Thailand, and is scheduled to visit various locations in the Asia-Pacific region this year. ASIMO is an important ambassador for Honda's vision of continually meeting challenges.
