ASIMO has made a first appearance in Paris at the Robot Exhibition entitled 'Hommes et Robots', hosted by the Paris Japan Cultural Center. At this exhibition, ASIMO carried a model of the Eiffel Tower, and amazed Parisians who attended the Exhibition and met ASIMO for the first time. ASIMO is busy not only in North America and Asia, but also now in Europe.
ASIMO made a first appearance in Paris at the Hommes et Robots Exhibition, hosted by the Paris Japan Cultural Center on 19th November 2003. As well as showing off particular abilities – climbing and descending stairs and dancing – ASIMO also carried a model of the Eiffel Tower, which is one of the most famous landmarks of Paris, to show appreciation of the artistic nature of the city of Paris. ASIMO's appearance was featured on TV and in newspapers, and was the subject of much public attention.
This was actually the second time a Honda robot has appeared in Paris. Before ASIMO was born, P3, another Honda Humanoid Robot, appeared at the Paris Auto Salon in September 2000. Many people who saw P3 at that time came to see ASIMO, and there were many comments of surprise at the extent to which robot technology has progressed. A large number of academic visitors also came to the venue and there were many requests for more detailed technical explanations of the development process for Honda's robots, and of ASIMO's abilities.
