Home > ASIMO in the World ASIMO Activities around the World North America Educational Tour held in Canada The "ASIMO North America Educational Tour", which started in January, 2003 finished successfully, having visited nine cities of the United States of America by September. In October, the tour visited for the first time America’s neighbor, Canada, and here the tour was held in three cities. The "ASIMO North America Educational Tour", whose main aim is to inspire students in elementary school, Jr. High School and studying technology to take an interest in dreams, hope and science, is growing in effectiveness day by day. Three-city visit ASIMO visited three cities in Eastern Canada, namely Aliston and Toronto in Ontario and Montréal in Quebec, for three weeks from the first week of October. Aliston, visited from October 4th to October 7th is a city that is home to a HONDA factory. Not only students, but also the employees of HONDA factory got to meet ASIMO for the first time. Of course, ASIMO was met with the kind of surprise and joyful reaction that greets him anywhere in the world. The city visited in the following week, October 10th to October 12th, was Toronto, Canada’s biggest city. Here, too, the team was surrounded by children looking forward to meeting ASIMO, and ASIMO performed for them wonderfully. This city has hosted a World Exposition and the Olympics, but ASIMO’s Educational Tour almost rivaled these events. In Montréal, both English and French are spoken in everyday life. On stage, the demonstration was performed with simultaneous interpretation for French. Although "ASIMO’s North America Educational Tour" was to have closed after touring two more cities in the USA, an ongoing tour in Mexico is now being planned.
