One-year assignment in Thailand
Since ASIMO's debut in November 2000, ASIMO has been a quite busy humanoid demonstrating talents in many places. Now, ASIMO is given a one-year assignment in Thailand to mark the start of promotional activities around the world. Thailand is ready to host ASIMO to help increase public recognition while demonstrating Honda's technological strength.
First extended engagement overseas
On July 31, only a week after joining Asian Honda Motor (ASH) in a one-year assignment in Thailand, ASIMO was accompanied by ASH Managing Director, Mr. Fukui, to an audience by King PHUMIPHON Adunyadet of Thailand. On August 2, ASIMO was invited to A.P. Honda's dealer convention.

ASIMO gave five demonstration each day during the Thai Science and Technology Fair that was held in Bangkok for 10 days from August 15 where ASIMO was met by Mr. Sonthaya Khunpluem, Thai Minister of Science, Technology and Environment. On August 27, ASIMO took part in the line-off ceremony at Thai Honda Manufacturing (THM) and, the following day, ASIMO had the honor of meeting with Thai Prime Minister Taksin Shinawat. Thai associates are now learning to become ASIMO operators and be ready for ASIMO's even busier activities.
